The
senator representing Osun-East senatorial district, Babajide Omoworare,
on Wednesday, cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party against fomenting
trouble through an economic summit being organised by the Osun
Stakeholders Group.
In a statement by his media aide, Tunde
Dairo, Omoworare alleged that the PDP was trying to use the summit to
destabilise the state.
The senator said there was no need for the summit, adding that it was planned to frustrate Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The statement read, “The financial crisis
in Osun is not peculiar to the state, it is a direct result of the
economic cluelessness of the immediate past PDP-led Federal Government.
The state has also won accolades in its efforts in improving educational
infrastructure in the state.
“While
recognising the rights of groups and associations under whatever
appellation, we warn that this latest move by the group, being sponsored
by the PDP, is capable of resulting to treason.
“The PDP is still suffering from the
hangover of it’s defeat at the last governorship election in the state.
Elections remain the only legitimate means of testing popularity and
change of government in a democratic setting. The good people of Osun
State have spoken through the ballot and have elected the APC.”
